Hábitat de Aprendizaje is an educational initiative of Corporación Akará, grounded in experiences of psycho-pedagogical support, aimed at accompanying the learning processes of children and adolescents in the formal education system of the Valle de Aburrá and Eastern Antioquia. Through comprehensive psycho-pedagogical mediation, it seeks to enhance cognitive, emotional, and social skills and abilities, improving academic performance and contributing to integral human development.
We aim to develop an ethical, participatory, and innovative project that values diversity, promotes integral well-being, and contributes to a more equitable education—one that is sensitive to its context and transformative for the children and adolescents in the territories we inhabit. As a team, we approach educational processes from a complex vision of learning, understanding that they are dynamic and shaped by our relationships with communities, environments, and cultures that influence the territories we inhabit. From this perspective, it is essential to provide contextualized and coherent responses to the needs that arise, while taking responsibility for our actions and their outcomes within these processes.
The project emerges as a response to the challenges of the Colombian educational system, where the lack of structured study habits is a key factor in low academic performance and school dropout.
Evidence shows a direct relationship between study habits and academic achievement. Students who use organized techniques obtain better results.
In Antioquia, previous programs have demonstrated the effectiveness of these strategies. However, significant gaps in access to such resources persist, especially in rural areas of the region.
Hábitat de Aprendizaje aims to support the learning processes of children and adolescents in the formal education system of the Valle de Aburrá and Eastern Antioquia, through comprehensive psycho-pedagogical mediation that strengthens cognitive and social skills, improves academic performance, and contributes to integral human development.
The project will be implemented with a flexible and personalized approach, where the psycho-pedagogical needs of each student will be identified, and tailored intervention strategies will be designed and carried out.
In 2025, we will launch a pilot implementation, providing psycho-pedagogical support to strengthen the learning processes of children and adolescents from 1st to 11th grade, in the municipalities of the Eastern Antioquia. The support will be based on a spiral structure that begins by addressing basic needs and gradually advances toward more complex ones.
To achieve this, the project will rely on diverse modalities and spaces, such as:
Workshops with 15 participants accompanied by two tutors.
Focus groups of 3 to 5 participants accompanied by tutors.
One-on-one sessions with tutors.
Workshops with caregivers to ensure coherence in the support provided at home.
Meetings with families as opportunities to follow up on the processes.
In all instances, cognitive skills and study habit development will be addressed. If specific needs arise, the project team will focus on generating appropriate strategies to strengthen the particular skills and capacities that require greater support for each participant.
Additionally, workshops will be offered for caregivers and families, providing them with tools to accompany the learning processes of the project’s participants. This responds to the integral perspective required in habit transformation, where the environment plays a key role in effective support.
Methodology
The proposal is structured in stages that allow for assessment processes and the design of personalized support roadmaps tailored to the needs identified throughout each participant’s journey in the project.
It is a flexible structure that considers emerging situations and needs detected through continuous assessment, enabling us to address each person’s requirements through diverse strategies that integrate both group and individual work.
